Film Score Composer For Hire
16.11.2006

As a Composer For Hire, I have had the opportunity to screen, and be a part of many different projects over the Summer. Completing the Score for another 5490 Studios film, Scoring the new season Pilot of Ghost Hunters for DIEPART, and even working on commercials for You Think It We Print It, PrimeSite Advertising, and a couple of others.

I have a great time, and I look forward to the projects around the corner: Animated Short, Action/Adventure Short and a Feature Film. I will announce details to these projects on the Film Score Composer - Christian Connett site as they become available.

Focus Management
08.09.2006

1. Focus Management
2. New Website Launched
3. Another Website Coming

1. Something that I have been learning more about is Focus Management.  Basically it means, managing to focus on one thing or objective. ;-)

I have been focusing on a new PM project that is VERY large (will take the next two years), and I have had the occasion to travel to Denver, Colorado as well as meet some great people.

I have also met some great musicians (see previous post).

2. I had my brand new website launched (http://www.christianconnett.com) this week for my music side of things.   This blog will stay intact at the this location, but I needed somehting suitable for the music side of things.

3. Another website that I am looking forward to launching by October 1 is VST Source.  This site will focus on Virtual Studio Technology Instruments (VSTi).  I will post VST reviews, downloads, insights into the designers/developers of the VST’s, tons of FREE VST and VSTi, and some more goodies surrounding Virtual Music and Instruments.

I hope to have a couple of columnists posting about Recording Studio Tips and Tricks, Working with VSTi’s in a Live rig set-up, Customizing your VSTi, and more.

I have been busy, and I am enjoying every minute of it, although I am most excited about getting back home to my Family!

Keep Pressing Forward…

Film Score Composer, Musician For hire
08.09.2006
  • The title says it all.  I pride myself in being a Film Score Composer, and I am of course, a Musician for Hire.

I have been in Denver recently on business (Project Management Business).  However, in the evening after work hours - I have had the fortunate experience of meeting some wonderful people in music.  Here is my list of favs from this week:

GoGoLab - CHECK THEM OUT!
Brian, Eric, and Bijoux were some of the greatest guys, and accomplished musicians

Pickles, great talking with you, and THANK YOU for getting me with GoGoLab!
Jeremy, I look forward to hearing his music/aspirations

Nick, Great musician as well, key master!  Thank you for the E-MU, and I look forward to many more conversations and music making session, albeit a little ‘virtual’ (pun intended).

The serious side of things, I am embarking on a great career changing opportunity with this project.  It will encompass the next couple of years of my life, and I am sure to gain more knowledge and experience in many facets of PM work.  I am looking forward to working with the Team and Stakeholders that I have been so dilligently working with thus far.

 To forward thinking… always

Film Score Composer, Soundtracks, Beds and more!
30.08.2006

I am not sure if you any of you reading this know or not, but I have been a professional musician for the last decade, and over the last couple of years, I have been fortunate enough to entertain my true musical calling: Composing for Film.  I have been a Film Score Composer officially for the last two years, although I have been scoring music for much longer than that for Radio and Internet Ads, Liners, Beds, etc.

As a Film Composer, I have been exposed to a number of great things. 1. SOFTWARE.  I have thousands of dollars worth of software that includes recording, mastering, and every instrument you could think of.  I have been purchasing and cataloging hundreds of instruments from the typical FM synths, pianos, and analog instruments to the less common ethnic and sound generating applications.

A great deal of my time has been spent Composing for 5490 Studios.  I have had the pleasure of Composing the complete score for four of their films.  The scores have included beds, sound design, hits, and evolving soundscapes.  Lot’s of industry jargon to toss around.

This has been an incredible opportunity, as I also get to work with one of my best friends Thor Moreno (my other best friend happens to be his Brother Damon).  Thor is a talented and extrordinary director with a vast musical background himself.  He has a vision that he works very hard to bring to life in his films, and enjoys working with like-minded individuals with a transcending outlook and passion.

This has also led me to the opportunity to Score yet another project.  DIEPART is working on their Iowa Ghost Hunters pilot, which I have been scoring the beds and soundscapes for over the last few weeks.  I am currently composing the theme/title music for the show as well.

There are talks of other opportunities around the corner, and my new website is under development to showcase more of the music than this blog can do.

Thank you for visiting, and thank you for reading.  If you want more info, check out the links:

Let me know what you think… Have a musical project?  Let me know!  Check out the Services and see what I can do for you - Film Score, Compositions, Beds, Liners, Ads, Voice Overs, Web/Flash beds, etc.

Iowa State Fair, Raven, Middle Earth, and more!
21.08.2006

The Ladies

Originally uploaded by christianconnett.

The Iowa State Fair. It’s gone now, except for the droves of food and debris left behind the 906,000 visitors of this annual ten-day event.

We somehow end up entertaing the Kids with thousands of people drinking, swearing, and eating every sort of food imaginable. During the fair, I would say that I am guilty of a couple of those things.

Madison loves the food, the rides, and of course Middle Earth. This is a little ‘playhouse’ area where the kids get to dress up and enact a ‘knights and monsters’ sort of play. I will post more pics on that later.

Kaitlynn wanted to see Raven, star of Disney Channel’s ‘That’s So Raven!’. WOW… We showed up at about 1:30 PM, and there had to have been about 3000 people there already for this free concert! We had to wait until 4:00 PM for the show, as more and more and more and more people poured in. There were Parents fighting, arguing, threatening, etc. It looked as though Paul McCartney was going to take the stage for a kids show. There had to be about 6000 people when it was all filled up, and it was crazy. Jenn and Kaitlynn took to the front of the stage as soon as we arrived.

I stayed back with the 3 year old that didn’t understand why she had to endure being surrounded by angry adults, screaming girls, and the smell of those fresh-baked cookies (ok the cookies was what I could smell). She wanted, and asked for Ice-cream for about an hour and a half. A LONG time for a 3 year old. Finally, she couldn’t take much more. After about three songs from Raven, she was ready to go. Her face was red from being stuck in the middle of all these people without a breeze, so we made our way to the Dippin Dots and ate some Banana Split frozen decadence.

The Fair was great fun. We danced, rode rides, ate tons of food, and Jenn got that Kitchen appliance that she wanted, so she could make her famous? salsa and guacamole dip. But alas, I picked up some very unique instruments myself. Hand-carved instruments!

More on that later…
